The goal of the Ventura Charter School is to attract, enroll, and retain the broadest spectrum of students and families representative of the rich diversity existing in the County. The School is nonsectarian in its programs, admission policies, employment practices, and all other operations. Ventura Charter School does not charge tuition and does not discriminate in admissions or outreach against any student on the basis of ethnicity, national origin, gender, or disability.
If the number of students who wish to attend Ventura Charter School exceeds the School's capacity, enrollment will be determined by a public random drawing. Preference shall be extended to pupils currently attending the School and the following preferences, which are listed below in order of priority:
*Please be aware that all applicant addresses will be independently verified. Applicants found to have used a fraudulent address will be barred from entering the lottery for a full year.
Admission Steps for 2021-2022
Each student must submit an application by February 24, 2021,
in order to be eligible for the lottery on February 26, 2021
Students who apply after the lottery deadline will be added to our waiting list in the order that they are received.
Please note: Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2021 to enter kindergarten for the 2021-22 school year.
Also, please visit www.shotsforschool.org for more information on the immunizations required for school entry. All incoming students must be fully immunized or have a valid medical exemption.
Information Meetings and School Tours: We are unable to offer in-person tours of the school and campus at this time. We are able to offer Virtual Information Meetings via Zoom. At these meetings the school philosophy, curriculum, and parental involvement are explained.
Please RSVP to shawndara.b@venturacharterschool.us no later than 60 minutes prior to the meeting in order to have the meeting link sent to you in time.

* Spanish language interpretation is available at any of the evening meetings, but must be requested with your RSVP no later than 24 hours before the meeting date/time.

Applications are available at each information meeting and school tour. Applications must be received no later than 4:00pm on February 24, 2021 in order to be considered for the lottery for the 2021-22 school year. A random lottery will be held on February 26, 2021. Acceptance to the school is based on availability of space. Priority is given to siblings of enrolled students and those residing within the Ventura Unified School District boundaries. Applications and waiting lists are valid until the following year's lottery. Students not admitted during the school year must submit a new application for the lottery each year.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the number of applicants, we are unable to contact every family with lottery results. Only the families of those students who receive seats will be contacted right away. All other applicants should feel free to contact the school to establish an individual student’s placement on the waiting list after March 15, 2021.
Visitation/Orientation: If possible, families who are offered placement will be contacted to schedule an orientation or visitation with their student.
